Meet Mike Taylor

Mike Taylor is an accomplished and experienced cabinetmaker and finish carpenter who has been perfecting his craft and honing his skills for over twenty years. Having apprenticed with one of the country’s finest high-end reproduction furniture makers, he learned the construction and techniques of making fine handmade furniture from master cabinet makers. Mike showed great promise and natural ability early in his career, and was one of the apprentices featured in Fine Woodworking Design Book Six, by Scott Landis.

Over his career, Mike has designed and built hundreds of 18th century reproductions and custom pieces. Many styles of custom pieces are represented in his furniture-making repertoire, including Shaker, William and Mary, Queen Anne, Chippendale, Federal and Sheraton. It was a natural extension of his unique skill sets and talent that antique furniture restoration would become a sought-after staple of his growing portfolio of work. Mike’s work also includes custom kitchens, built-ins, millwork, wainscoting, random-width flooring and many other design/produce/ install projects.

Like any artist who is comfortable in his medium and confident in his skill, Mike leaves an imprint of himself in everything he builds. With an eye for detail, hands familiar with the materials they hold and fingertips that seek perfection and know when it has been achieved, he brings a level of craftsmanship to his work that is rarely found, but is highly regarded by those who know where to find it.

Mike’s shop is located 15 minutes southwest of Kennett Square, 1 hour from Philadelphia, Baltimore, Harrisburg, and York.

"Your attention to detail makes the quality of your work superior."
